Baisakhi

Baisakhi is the festival of the sikhs which is celebrated by them with the great enthusiasm in the punjab state and also the by the sikh population who are present all over the world. Baisakhi is the festival of where the rabi crops are harvested and hence the sikhs celebrate the day of Baisakhi with the Bhangra dance and the gidda dances. The Baisakhi festival will fall in the month of the Vaisakh on the first day during April month to the May month, Hence forth this Baisakhi is also known popularly as the Vaisakhi.In accordance with the English calendar the date of the Baisakhi falls every year mainly on 13th of April but once in the every thirty six(36) years the date falls on  14th of April , these differences in the dates are due to the Baisakhi is calculated according to the solar calendar but not with the Lunar calendar.Hence the Baisakhi which is celebrated as auspicious day all over the country of India with the different names and also with the various set of the rituals and celebrations and coincides with the 'Puthandu' in Tamil Nadu, 'Rongili bihu' in Assam, 'Pooram vishu' in Kerala  and 'Naba barsha' in Bengal.
